Varieties
At Gunnels Farms, a large majority of our seed consists of the Russet Norkotah Texas Lines and Colorado Selections.

Released by the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station in 1987, the Russet Norkotah enjoyed early, widespread acceptance throughout the United States. Growers appreciate the standard Russet Norkotah for its long tuber shape, shallow eyes and large percentage of US #1s. But shortcomings of the variety couldn't be overlooked. In the early 1990s, the Texas and Colorado Agricultural Experiment Stations made selections in the San Luis Valley. The results are selections with larger vines, increased yields, and increased stress and pest tolerance. These selections have lower fertility requirements and are better able to compete with weeds.

At Gunnels Farms we have a great deal of experience growing these selections, and with our experience comes your peace of mind. We also custom grow varieties upon request and have a large selection of Generation 1 seed stock.
